Shootout on the Snye tournament cancelled due to extreme cold

Lots of free activities still available at WinterPLAY, including ice skating.

Shootout on the Snye is cancelled due to extreme cold and severe wind chill. Several teams have already cancelled, significantly impacting scheduling and team availability for the tournament. The current forecasted temperatures are colder than the safety threshold of –28 degrees Celsius. Players who were registered as of Feb. 20 will be refunded their registration fees next week.

This event is beloved by many and this decision was not made easily. The safety of players, volunteers, referees, and staff is the top priority. Don’t worry, the ice rinks won’t go to waste; leisure skating is still able to be booked at your own discretion.

Horse-drawn wagon rides may also be cancelled for the safety of attendees, staff and horses. Further updates will be provided. Stay tuned to rmwb.ca/WinterPLAY or the municipal Facebook page.
