Celebrate, learn, and reflect together

Canada Day is a time to come together as a community and celebrate in a way that fosters unity, understanding and respect.

We acknowledge and honour the land on which we live, work and play —Treaty 8 territory, the traditional and ancestral land of the Cree, Dene and the unceded territory of the Métis.

Each of us can participate in advancing reconciliation by:

  • Listening and learning from Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
  • Participating in events that honour and celebrate Indigenous cultures.
  • Reading the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report and the 94 Calls to Action.
  • Taking the free online Indigenous Learning Series.
  • Joining the It’s Time to Read Book Club to explore Indigenous history, culture and the experiences of local Indigenous communities.
