Special Council Meeting being held in Anzac on May 19
A Special Council Meeting is being held at the Anzac Recreation Centre on May 19. Community members are also invited to participate in free activities held at Camp Yogi earlier on the same day, to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Horse River Wildfire.
The Special Council Meeting will begin at 5 p.m. on May 19. A preview of the meeting agenda will be available as usual on the Friday afternoon ahead of the meeting (May 15) at rmwb.ca/council. Most agenda items are expected to be specific to the Anzac community.
Community members are invited to watch the Special Council meeting in person. A recording of the meeting will also be available to watch on the RMWB’s Youtube channel shortly after it finishes.
The May 19 meeting is part of Council’s commitment to hold meetings in the rural communities where possible, as per section 138 of Council’s Procedure Bylaw.
Wildfire anniversary activities held at Camp Yogi earlier in afternoon
All residents are invited to the 10-year wildfire anniversary community event at Camp Yogi from 1 – 3 p.m.
All activities are free and will focus on reflection, connection and well-being, and include the following:
- Space to spend time reflecting, sharing or listening to community stories.
- Well-being activities including yoga, meditation, and gentle movement.
- Free seedlings to take home and flowerpot painting for all ages.
- Opportunity to connect with members of Council and RMWB administration, as well as representatives from MACOY, Alberta Forestry and the Red Cross.
- Light refreshments and snacks will be available.
