Bike and Ride

Conventional transit buses are equipped with bicycle racks that can be used year-round on core and neighbourhood routes. Two bikes can be stored at one time while the owners ride on the bus. There is no extra charge for this service.

Transit On Demand buses are not equipped with bicycle racks and will not accept riders with bikes.

10 steps to load and unload your bicycle

  1. As the bus approaches, have your bike ready to load. Before loading your bike, remove items that might fall off.
  2. Let the driver know you're loading your bike. The driver cannot help you load your bike for safety reasons. However, the driver can give you instructions.
  3. Always load and unload your bike from the passenger side of the bus or the side closest to the curb rather than from the driver's side.
  4. Pull down to release the folded bike rack. You can do this with one hand so you can hold your bike with your other hand.
  5. Lift the bike onto the rack and fit the wheels into the appropriate slots. Each slot is labeled to let you know where your front and rear wheels belong. Remember to load your bike in the outside slot first.
  6. Raise and release the support arm over the top of the front tire. Ensure that the support arm is resting on your bike tire and not on your bike fender or frame.
  7. When you get off the bus, let the driver know that you need to unload your bike.
  8. Raise the support arm off your bike. Move the arm down and out of your way.
  9. Lift your bike out of the rack.
  10. Fold up the bike rack if there is no other bike in it.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is not responsible for damages incurred or caused by bicycles on transit property.
