Specialized Transit

Specialized Transit is an application-based program available to residents with mobility challenges that are unable to use regular bus service.

SMART Bus is now called Specialized Transit and is part of RMWB Transit On Demand.

You will continue to receive curb-to-curb service with the same level of assistance provided previously.

Specialized Transit trips are available on weekdays from 5 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. and on weekends from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Specialized Transit is part of RMWB Transit On Demand. To make sure we can serve more riders, trips may include other passengers heading in the same direction with a few stops along the way. A scheduling system is used to ensure all Specialized Transit riders will arrive on time for all appointments. This approach helps us provide more trips and longer hours of service for everyone.

You can continue to contact RMWB Transit dispatch to book a ride or use one of the following Transit On Demand booking options:

  • Account details: There is an account already created for all Specialized Transit riders to access the app and online booking options. To get your login details and for help logging in, please contact dispatch (780-743-7909). Do not set up an account without calling dispatch.
  • App: Download the RMWB Transit On Demand app.
  • Onlinermwb.ca/OnDemand.
  • Phone: Call Pulse at 780-743-7000. Press 1 for Transit On Demand. Then press 2 for Specialized Transit.

You can book trips up to 7 days in advance. Trips must be booked by 3:45 p.m., the day before the appointment.

Must be requested by calling dispatch during the week between 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and are subject to availability.

Call or email the dispatch office with your punch pass purchase request at least 24 hours before your next trip.

Apply to become a Specialized Transit rider 

Fill out the application package to be considered for Specialized Transit. 

Please remember that conventional transit buses are wheelchair accessible. We encourage clients to use the conventional service where possible.

Book a Specialized Transit ride 

Starting Aug. 22, 2025, Specialized Transit riders will be able to book a ride 7 days in advance and will have three ways to book: 

  • Through the RMWB Transit On Demand app 

  • Online at rmwb.ca/OnDemand   

  • By calling dispatch 780-743-7909, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. (Phone bookings currently available) 

All bookings should be made by 3:45 p.m. the day before the appointment. When you call to book a trip, please have the following information available. 

  • Name 

  • Daytime phone number 

  • Date and time for trip 

  • Pickup and drop off locations 

  • Whether you’re travelling with an attendant and/or a mobility aid 

Bus drivers won't take passengers who haven't booked a trip in advance and cannot accept bookings on the bus. For same day cancellation or if your bus is later than 15 minutes, please contact Pulse at 780-743-7000 or 1-800-973-9663.

Specialized Transit Service Hours

Monday - Friday 5 a.m. - 11: 30 p.m.

Saturday - Sunday 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Service to Anzac and Janvier

Specialized Transit travels to Anzac on Wednesdays and Janvier on Thursdays. There is a pick-up and drop-off once a day. You can book your trip by calling 780-743-7909.
