You must create an account before you can book an On Demand ride.

Once the booking is confirmed, you will be picked up as quickly as possible by the nearest available On Demand bus. Wait times will vary but will not be longer than 30 minutes.

On Demand service is available for immediate trips and should be booked at the time you are ready to leave.

Transit On Demand will be available daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with the exception of the Downtown On Demand Zone. On Demand service is available downtown from Monday - Friday in the evenings from 6-10 p.m. and on the weekends from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.

While Waterways is part of the Downtown Zone, On Demand service will be available in the neighbourhood everyday from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m.

On Demand service is not available downtown during the day from Monday to Friday as there are numerous regular routes available during this time.

The new Transit On Demand service is available in Waterways everyday from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. While we recognize this is a big change, On Demand service will make public transit more convenient and available in Waterways.

Previously, Route 91 – Longboat Landing was the only available Transit option for Waterways. This route ran once every hour from 7 a.m. -10 p.m. on the weekdays and 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on weekends. Transit On Demand service has longer hours and you can book a bus when you need it and be picked up in 30 mins or less.

On Demand trips only stop at other bus stops when another rider in the area has booked a trip around the same time. This means it will be quicker for Waterways residents using Transit On Demand to get to locations downtown and connect to regular routes for travel across Fort McMurray.

While On Demand will make Transit more available in Waterways, it will also be a more efficient way to provide public transit in the neighbourhood.

While Waterways is part of the Downtown On Demand Zone, there are extended hours of service in the neighbourhood. On Demand service is available in Waterways everyday from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. On Demand service for the rest of the Downtown Zone is available from 6-10 p.m. on weekdays and 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekends.

During weekdays from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m., On Demand trips will travel to and from Waterways to bus stop #10023 on Franklin Ave. in front of the River City Centre. This stop is serviced by multiple regular routes, making it very convenient to catch a bus for travel across Fort McMurray.

During weekdays from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. and the weekends from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m., riders in Waterways can use Transit On Demand to travel to any bus stop in the Downtown Zone, making it very easy to get to locations downtown and to connect to regular routes for travel across Fort McMurray.

No. Transit On Demand buses will pick you up and drop you off at a bus stop within the same On Demand Zone. This means that if you’re using Transit On Demand in Timberlea, you will only be able to travel within Timberlea (Parsons Creek and Taiganova are included in the Timberlea On Demand zone).

To travel outside of your neighbourhood, Transit On Demand will drop you off at a bus stop to connect to a core route for travel across Fort McMurray.

The Transit App and Google Maps will not provide RMWB Transit On Demand information. When your neighbourhood route is not available, use the Transit On Demand App to book a ride.

Specialized Transit users will continue to receive curb-to-curb service and will arrive on time for all their appointments. With Specialized Transit now part of On Demand Service, there are longer operating hours, increased trip availability and more ways to book, making it easier to use Specialized Transit. Accessible buses will continue to be used for all Specialized Transit trips with the same level of assistance and service being provided.

There may be times when Specialized Transit users are on the same accessible bus as regular On Demand riders. A scheduling software is used to dispatch buses and plan routes to ensure Specialized Transit users arrive on time for their appointments, while picking up On Demand riders in the neighbourhood heading to the same area.

Specialized Transit riders share the same accessible bus with On Demand riders and receive curb-to-curb service. Learn more about this service above.

No. There is no extra cost to use Transit On Demand. You will continue to pay the regular fare using your preferred method: exact cash, a one-ride ticket, or a monthly pass.

Please remember: drivers cannot make change or sell tickets or passes, so be sure to have the exact fare if paying with cash.
