igNIGHT
2025 marks the 8th edition of igNIGHT, a 5-day temporary public art exhibition that aims to engage the interest and imagination of the public using illuminated artworks at the heart of the exhibition.
The inaugural exhibition took place in 2014 and was used to reanimate public spaces throughout downtown Fort McMurray, Alberta.
This biennial arts and cultural event is now celebrated in kiyām Park, a central location in the downtown core, and continues to offer a variety of opportunities for the public to play and participate!
When we employ the magic of the arts, there’s always something to discover.

About the Municipal Art Program
Public Art Wood Buffalo’s mandate is to strengthen community identity and sense of place through the creation and development of public art within the region. A framework for funding and administering the program was created with Public Art Policy (PRC-170). This policy also supported the initiation of the council appointed Public Art Committee who advise on the development and delivery of program elements. In May 2021, Council adopted the Wood Buffalo Public Art Plan which supports a strategic process of further developing public art within the region.
