The Community Cleanup Kickoff event, originally scheduled for May 14, has been rescheduled to May 21 due to inclement weather.

• Supplies will be provided. No need to register.

All residents, businesses and community groups are encouraged to join us on the new date for a successful – and hopefully much sunnier – start to the cleanup season.

A Special Council Meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on May 19 in the Anzac Recreation Centre (pursuant to Section 194 of the Municipal Government Act, RSA. 2000 c.M-26), to consider bylaw amendments and Councillor motions specific to Anzac. 

A Special Council Meeting is being held at the Anzac Recreation Centre on May 19. Community members are also invited to participate in free activities held at Camp Yogi earlier on the same day, to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Horse River Wildfire.

The front of the ice jam near Fort McMurray has now melted past the meeting point of the Clearwater and Athabasca Rivers and continues to melt with warmer temperatures. It has shrunk by an additional 3 km since yesterday and is now approximately 12.5 km long. 

The ice run from the Town of Athabasca released earlier today and is expected to meet the existing downstream ice jam near Fort McMurray by tomorrow evening.   

Controlled burns may begin as soon as today and will continue throughout May across the Municipality to reduce the wildfire risk in the region.

An ice jam on the Athabasca River north of Fort McMurray is causing water levels to rise. Water is high on the Athabasca river underneath the bridge, however these levels are being monitored closely

Celebrate Earth Day by signing up to make a difference in cleaning up the community! Volunteers of all ages are welcome to help beautify the region after a long, cold and snowy winter.

At the March 24 Council meeting, the municipal Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) was accepted as information.

Council directed Wood Buffalo Housing and Development Corporation (WBHD) and RMWB administration to collaborate on a plan to achieve a housing strategy, including who will complete future housing needs assessments, timelines and report back to Council by June 2026.
