Regional Emergency Services (RES) is looking for your feedback on local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) including ambulance services

Building on the permanent Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Pilot Project Bylaw in Abasand, the RMWB is exploring whether designated OHV routes could improve safety and reduce illegal activity in additional Fort McMurray neighbourhoods. Areas being considered include a portion of Timberlea, Parsons Creek North, Waterways and Wood Buffalo, with access in Wood Buffalo limited to the winter season.

An updated vision for active aging in Wood Buffalo was launched on Friday with the release of the new Wood Buffalo Age-Friendly Work Plan at the Golden Year’s Society.

Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) Council has appointed the Board of Directors for the 2028 Alberta Summer Games Host Society, marking a key milestone in the region's preparation to host the Games.

Grant applications are now being accepted for the 2027 Community Investment Program (CIP) grant cycle.

CIP grant opportunities are available for registered non-profits, individuals, teams and groups. 

The deadline to apply is Sept. 30 at 4:30 p.m.

Last week’s wildland fire in the forested area behind McKinley Crescent, was caused by an abandoned campfire according to a Regional Emergency Services investigation report.

On Aug. 25, 2026, Bylaw Services executed a search warrant under the Alberta Animal Protection Act for a home in Gregoire, where 97 small breed dogs were found to be living inside. All 97 dogs were rescued by Animal Control and put into the care of the Fort McMurray SPCA. The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending for the individual who was onsite where the dogs were found.
