In response to heavy snowfall and extreme winter conditions, additional plowing of Winter Maintenance Zone (WMZ) streets will begin Feb. 20 and continue everyday until all streets are complete. The regular WMZ schedule will be suspended during this time and new parking restrictions put into effect.
Another wide load of two modular homes is heading north on the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road on Monday morning, Feb. 23.
Southbound travel from Fort Chipewyan to Fort McMurray will be temporarily unavailable from 12:01 a.m. to 10 a.m. Northbound drivers should also expect delays on the winter road during this time.
Subzones 3 and 4 will be active from Feb. 16-20 for snow plowing, with on-street parking restrictions in effect 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Snow removal will also continue next week in Subzones 1 and 2 where temporary no parking signs are posted.
Property owners in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) should watch their mailboxes for the 2026 property assessment notices which were mailed on Feb. 11.
Your assessment notice shows the assessed value of your property. This value is used to calculate your property taxes for 2026.
