The Athabasca and Clearwater rivers are being continuously monitored, and flood protection measures are in place. Water levels have remained stable throughout the day.

An Evacuation Alert has been issued for Draper due to the potential of an ice jam flooding event along the Clearwater River. Water levels could impact egress and access on Garden Lane and River Bend Close.

Provincial river forecasters are reporting that an ice jam approximately 20 km long has formed approximately 7 km upstream from the Thickwood golf course in Fort McMurray.
The Municipality has sent buses, food and water, as well as plows and heavy equipment to help any motorists still stranded on Highway 63 after a significant spring snowstorm.
Highway 63 and 881 are currently impassable due to dangerous storm conditions, and motorists are being advised to avoid all unnecessary travel. The RCMP continue to urge the public not to travel on Highway 63 and 881 at this time.
Four community members were celebrated for their significant contributions to the region, with Council presenting awards for Citizen of the Year, Everyday Hero, Indigenous Advocate and Youth at a ceremony on April 23, 2026.
