For the second time this week, an improperly extinguished cigarette is being blamed for an early morning fire in Fort McMurray.

After a weekend fire, residents are being reminded to make sure smoking materials are fully extinguished before walking away.

Residents and businesses in downtown Fort McMurray, Waterways, Grayling Terrace, Abasand and TaigaNova will see crews conducting sewer cleaning and inspections over the next several weeks.  Work will begin in the region on July 23 and continue to the end of September. This is the first phase of a multi-year program for all communities in the Municipality.

Residents, dignitaries and community leaders gathered in Beacon Hill to celebrate the official opening of Reflections Lookout. The new park commemorates the 2016 Horse River Wildfire, the recovery process and resiliency of the community.
