Discover permitting trends

See how planning and development services operate across the region. The dashboards below provide clear, up‑to‑date information on permitting activity, showing how many permits are submitted and approved, how long reviews typically take, and how activity changes over time.

Across all dashboards, key information is available on a variety of activities over time, including:

  • total applications received
  • businesses started
  • items issued or currently active
  • applications still under review where a final decision is pending
  • overall processing duration

You can choose different years and filters to explore trends, compare activity, and see how processes change over time.

The dashboards also highlight distribution patterns, review stages, and time spent at each step, helping improve transparency and provide a clearer understanding of development and business activity across the region.

The dashboards below are interactive and designed to help you explore information and view trends over time. Use filters, such as the year dropdown, to focus on a specific period. Charts and tables will automatically update based on your selections.

Selecting a category, neighbourhood, or any part of a chart will highlight related results across the page. To return to the full view, click the selection again or use the Clear filters option at the top of the page.

The data in each dashboard is updated on the first day of each month.

Business licensing

Business activity reflects how the local economy continues to operate and evolve across the region. A mix of active and expired licences, along with a range of industries across different neighbourhoods, shows how services are maintained and where business presence is strongest within the community.

This helps residents understand available services in their area and provides insight into local business activity, growth patterns, and opportunities for new or expanding businesses.

Development Planning

Planning activity reflects how communities grow and change over time. By looking at patterns in development, it becomes easier to see where new housing, services, and infrastructure are taking shape, and how different areas are evolving.

This helps provide a better understanding of development activity and growth patterns across the region.

Safety Codes permitting

Safety Codes activity reflects how construction and building work is taking place across the region. From new builds to renovations and upgrades, it shows what types of construction are happening and how they are changing over time, including recent trends from 2024 to 2026.

It also provides insight into how much is being invested in the community through project values, highlighting the scale of development and improvement. This helps residents, businesses, and contractors better understand construction and building activity, and how development is progressing over time.
