The Municipality has sent buses, food and water, as well as plows and heavy equipment to help any motorists still stranded on Highway 63 after a significant spring snowstorm.
Highway 63 and 881 are currently impassable due to dangerous storm conditions, and motorists are being advised to avoid all unnecessary travel. The RCMP continue to urge the public not to travel on Highway 63 and 881 at this time.

There has been no significant movement of ice on the Athabasca and Clearwater rivers yet. Alberta Environment and Protected Areas River Forecasters report that ice on the Athabasca River is degrading but remains intact. River forecasters will continue to monitor the rivers for changes in conditions.

This is the final Winter Maintenance Zone weekly update as the regular Subzone schedule is now complete. Crews will continue to clear back-alleys and catch basins to support the spring thaw and closely monitor street and weather conditions. The Rural Water and Sewer Servicing (RWSS) program helps bring piped water and sewer services to southern rural communities, replacing trucked water delivery and septic hauling.
At its April 14 meeting, RMWB Council approved the transfer of seven residential lots to the Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee (CRDAC) for a nominal fee of $1. This decision supports an ongoing partnership to help address housing needs in the community.
