Due to a power outage, the July 9 Council meeting has been cancelled and rescheduled for July 10 at 3 p. m. .
Looks like summer is finally here! It’s construction season and the Safety Codes department is pleased to share the following information with you, as we continue to support our community and be of assistance to you.
At last night’s special Council meeting, the motion to make all RMWB Councillors full-time was reconsidered and defeated. This means that all RMWB Councillors will go back to being part-time and there will be no changes to Councillors’ duties or compensation.
As the Fort McMurray Fire Department celebrates this noteworthy anniversary, it is my honour to offer a few words to acknowledge the dedicated and brave people who built and shaped the department’s history. 1974 was a foundational year for the FMFD with the positions of Fire Chief (Roy Hawkins) and Deputy Fire Chief (Archie Goodwin) elevated to full-time and with the hiring of Joe Gautier, the first full-time paid firefighter that July.
