River breakup is in progress. An Evacuation Alert has been issued for Draper due to the potential of an ice jam flooding event along the Clearwater River. Water levels could impact egress and access on Garden Lane and River Bend Close. Residents in the alert area do not have to leave but should be ready to evacuate on short notice. Crews are continuing snow removal operations and getting closer to completing all streets in Fort McMurray.
Subzones 1 and 2 will be active from Jan.26-30 for snow removal operations, with on-street parking restrictions in effect 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Subzones 3 and 4 will be active Feb. 2-6.
Following parking restrictions helps speed up winter maintenance. When a subzone is active, all vehicles must be off the street on your scheduled maintenance day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Do not park back on the street before 6 p.m., even if work appears complete, as crews may need to return.
As of December 2025, $7 million in grant funding has been invested in downtown Fort McMurray through the Downtown Revitalization Incentives Program. This marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to strengthen the downtown core.
Winter maintenance continues across Fort McMurray with crews making steady progress in neighbourhoods and on high-traffic routes.
Subzones 3 and 4 will be active from Jan.19-23 for snow removal operations, with on-street parking restrictions in effect 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Subzones 1 and 2 will be active Jan. 26-30.
All available crews and equipment are actively working to clear streets. Daily winter maintenance progress updates will be shared from Monday to Friday until road conditions improve. All updates are available at rmwb.ca/wmz.
WinterPLAY returns to the region on Feb. 20-24!
WinterPLAY is inviting community members to participate in fundraising opportunities and is seeking referees for the Shootout in the Snye pond hockey tournament.
The WinterCHALET heated tent is available for local commercial or social profit organizations to provide food sales during WinterPLAY. Complete an application by Feb. 9.
