River breakup is in progress. An Evacuation Alert has been issued for Draper due to the potential of an ice jam flooding event along the Clearwater River. Water levels could impact egress and access on Garden Lane and River Bend Close. Residents in the alert area do not have to leave but should be ready to evacuate on short notice. Crews are getting closer to completing snow removal at least once this winter on all streets in the Winter Maintenance Zone (WMZ) program. This does not mean that work is finished, as snow removal operations continue in all subzones, prioritizing streets in most need of maintenance if access is available.
A Special Council Meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 3, 2026 in Council Chambers to consider a Chief Administrative Officer Recruitment Update, in camera pursuant to sections 20(4) and 22(1) of the Access to Information Act.
Subzones 3 and 4 will be active from Feb. 2-6 for snow removal operations, with on-street parking restrictions in effect 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
As winter maintenance continues, keeping streets clear of vehicles remains one of the most effective ways to support efficient snow removal. Vehicles left in active subzones or where temporary no parking signs are placed are subject to a $120 Notice of Violation plus towing fees.
Effective Jan. 29 at noon, the load limit for the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road is increasing to 45,000 kg.
