Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) have officially opened a provincial EMS dispatch call centre, bringing it online today. This announcement reflects months of collaborative efforts and a growing partnership between the municipality and AHS.
On June 7, 2024, the municipality filed a statement of claim against the former Director of Human Resources, related to the delivery of illegitimate bonuses to a select number of employees, including herself, within the Municipality. This behaviour misled leadership of the RMWB, regarding the purpose and validity of payments.

OHV riders must review regulations to ensure compliance prior to driving on municipal roads in Abasand. Council approved the Off-Highway Vehicle Pilot Project Bylaw at last night’s meeting, giving the green light for OHVs to travel on municipal roadways in Abasand starting July 1, 2024.

RMWB and Advisory Committee on Aging receive Alberta Age-Friendly Recognition Award. Past and present members of the Advisory Committee on Aging (ACoA), community partners and volunteers came together May 13 to celebrate the region’s recent Alberta Age-Friendly Recognition Award.
The Municipality’s construction season is well underway with 33 new projects in the works and 46 multi-year projects continuing to progress. Being in Northern Alberta, the construction window is usually less than six months, so a lot of work has to happen in a short period of time.
