[NEW] - Project Introduction Notice - June 5, 2023
Affected Areas: FORT MCKAY FIREHALL, FORT MCKAY ROAD, FORT MCKAY FIRST NATION AMPHITHEATRE
The Municipality is building a new community centre in Fort McKay that will serve as a facility for the community to host a variety of events and celebrations. You will start to see crews and construction activity beginning Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
The community centre is a 12,000 square foot building that comes with an event stage to accommodate any performances or presentations, multiple bleacher areas with approximately 300 seats, a commercial kitchen complete with a concession, plenty of storage space, and a new asphalt parking lot with over 100 parking stalls.
It’s expected the that the foundation and pilings will be complete during this construction season. Work will continue in the 2024 construction season, with expected completion of the community centre in 2025.
The project area is shown in Figure 1 below. Figures 2 and 3 below are conceptual drawings of the Fort McKay Community Centre.
Please be mindful of large trucks and increased traffic on Fort McKay Road. Trucks will be coming and going for the duration of the project for deliveries, installations, structure erection, etc.

For everyone’s safety, please follow all construction signage, keep a safe distance from equipment and do not enter closed areas.
